Health & Safety Policy

Below is a summary of the company’s policies and objectives.

Particular attention is paid to Health & Safety. The Company’s policy is designed to cover its own employees, those of the client and members of the public – and SONICLEAN always aims to achieve standards higher than those demanded by legislation.

Where a significant risk exists, the services of outside experts and consultants are called upon to provide detailed technical advice to ensure that safe working practices are adopted.

The objectives of the Health & Safety policy are:

To ensure that equipment is maintained in a safe condition
To ensure that the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and agents is without risk to Health & Safety
To ensure that all staff receive the necessary information and training in all Health & Safety matters
To ensure that all staff have the necessary protective clothing and equipment in accordance with P.P.E. regulations.

C.O.S.H.H. –Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act 2004

The use of hazardous chemicals is minimised. If needed, they are issued only to a fully trained supervisor who is responsible for their use and storage. All operations staff receives full instruction on the handling of chemicals used on site. Chemical data sheets and

C.O.S.H.H. information summaries are placed in every cleaning cupboard on every site. All personnel are instructed to:-
Never mix chemicals unless clearly indicated
Always follow colour code rules relating to areas being cleaned and materials used.
Always wear gloves when performing duties (according to colour coding rules)
Study and adhere to the C.O.S.H.H and C.H.I.P regulations
Carefully follow the instructions supplied on containers
Always label containers used for decanting or diluting chemicals
Always store chemicals as far apart from each other as possible, in dry areas and avoiding extremes of temperature.

Colour Coded Systems

SONICLEAN uses a colour coding system to prevent cross-contamination of chemicals. Chemicals are all supplied in colour coded containers, with matching cleaning cloths, mops, buckets and rubber gloves which help to maintain high standards of hygiene – for example, to ensure cleaning cloths from sanitary appliances are not used by mistake in kitchens.

Risk Assessments

Regulations require employers to conduct assessments of the risks associated with the various tasks undertaken by their staff.

Our trained personnel carry out these assessments. Prior to the commencement of the contract all jobs are assessed and reports produced, along with a simple chart for each.

Where a significant risk is identified the method of working is reviewed in consultation with the client.

Method Statements

Having assessed the risk of undertaking any task, SONICLEAN produce a detailed explanation for its staff on exactly how the job should be carried out, what chemicals should be used, what safety equipment will be necessary, etc.
